2015, March 02

One cold winter evening 15 women gathered at Vieknšniai Vincas Deniušis art school for a workshop carried out by artist Jolita Parieštienė. It was a second workshop, held by this artist, so this time the theme was chosen not accidentally, women wanted to remember some traditional lithuanian needlework techniques, so there was a decission to remember or learn sthiching technique. It is an old lithuanian traditional embroidery technique. Usually this technique was used to decorate clothes, bedding and etc.

During this workshop participants got got useful information about the ways to use it and addapt for different crafts, introduction to its history was given and of course after everyone tried to try it themselves.Anyway, it is a very slow and long time requiring work, so participants tried to make very small things like napkins, decorated with stitching technique.
